Paediatric hydrotherapy offers a unique therapeutic approach designed for children.
Unlike traditional swimming lessons, which primarily focus on aquatic skills and stroke technique, hydrotherapy utilises the therapeutic properties of water (buoyancy, resistance, and temperature) to address various physical and sensory needs in children. The rhythmic, calming nature of the warm water have been proven to be effective for helping children with behavioural challenges to regulate.
With the guidance of our skilled and caring therapists, hydrotherapy is a fun and effective way to assist children with developmental delays, physical disabilities, and reduced mobility.
Buoyancy: The buoyancy of water reduces the impact and weight bearing demands required through your child’s joints. This allows your child to learn and practice new skills that may be more difficult on land (e.g. stepping).
Resistance: Water provides natural gentle resistance during movement, which can aid in improving joint flexibility and range of motion. This can also help children develop strength and motor control, whilst also offering sensory input and proprioceptive feedback. In particular, the deep touch pressure from the water can enhance your child’s understanding of force, movement, and body control through water.
Temperature: The warmth of the water can often have a calming effect on the nervous system, reducing muscle tension and promoting relaxation. This can be soothing for children who have difficulties with sensory regulation.

Contact Mobi Kids to book in an initial land evaluation at our Bella Vista clinic
Your Mobi Kids therapist will then develop a hydrotherapy plan based on the assessment findings, and most importantly, you and your child’s goals!
Once this process is completed, we will then confirm your ongoing hydrotherapy booking time.
Our Mobi Kid’s hydrotherapy program is conducted at Glenwood.
